Mentor a Child
Statistics show that a fatherless home impairs the next generation. Fatherhood is a social role that obligates men to their biological children. In virtually all human societies, the well being of the children depends decisively upon a relatively high level of father investment. With over 50% of children in the USA experiencing the pain of father abandonment before they reach eighteen, what happens when a father voluntarily leaves or abandons his role as a child’s protector and provider?
- 82% of pregnant teenagers come from fatherless homes
- 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes
- 78% of high school dropouts come from fatherless home
- 80% of rapists motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes
- Over 80 % of young men in prison come from fatherless
homes - 75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers
come from fatherless homes - 72% of adolescent murderers and 60% of America’s rapists grew up without fathers
Father absence is the primary cause of both economic and social poverty and cuts across all racial and social/economic boundaries.
