Pilot Program
Working with The Bair Foundation (www.bair.org) and Focus on Youth (www.focusonyouth.com), the Coalition of Care is excited about the opportunity to conduct 2-3 special pilot programs starting in January 2010. The churches that are involved with this exciting venture will:
- Commit that a foster care/adoption/orphan ministry is important
- Preferably with a message from the pulpit
- Conduct at least two Information Meetings on foster care opportunities in advance of the training
- Promote the foster care training within the church – encouraging people to explore the opportunity before the training begins.
- What is foster care and what does it involve?
- Why it is important and how people can be involved in different ways
- Provide the training at the church with either The Bair Foundation or Focus On Youth
- There is no cost to the church– they come to you
- Making appropriate accommodations for classroom space, printing, AV support, etc.
- Evaluate and contribute to the Coalition of Care Wrap Around Model that is under development
- Involves five core resources that provides, protects and nurtures the family
- Begin the process of building the wrap around support team around potential foster care and adoptive families
- Recognizing that this is a spiritual matter with eternal consequence
- That it can volunteer led unless the staff wants to serve in this capacity
- Watching the foster care families carefully and helping them succeed as issues/challenges come up, questions, doubts, concerns, etc
- Provide feedback on the model and the progress of the foster care families as their journey begins
- What is working well, what needs improvement
- Celebrate the victories and the stories that come from the experience
- Perhaps with a special service at the right time
